Steelers…Steelers…Steelers! That is the chant that you will hear anywhere you go on a Steelers/football night. It doesn’t matter what night of the week it is, or what time the game starts. If the Steelers are playing, Pittsburgh is cheering.

Football is, of course, one of America’s favorite pastimes, but it is worth mentioning that football is the heart of Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh is a city that believes in its teams and supports them to no end.  Whether the Steelers are winning or losing, they have fans that love and support them.

Being a Steelers fan is even more magical to Pittsburghers. Besides, how many cities/ fans can claim that they have a hometown team that has been as successful as the Steelers? Not many. Football, fun, and food from Primanti Brothers is what makes watching Steelers game enjoyable, not to mention getting to bond with other native Pittsburghers who love the city as much as you do.

Sometimes football seasons start off rough, and that is exactly how the Steelers began their 2019 season. They were listed at 0 and 3. It seemed like they were off to rocky start, but they pulled it together and turned their season around. They started winning, which moved their standing to 5 and 4. At this point, things were looking good for the Steelers.

Unfortunately, there are often ups and downs in the sports world. The 21 to 7 loss to one of Pittsburgh’s most infamous rivals, the Cleveland Browns, was disappointing. As a result, it took the Steelers’ record to 5-5.  As the saying goes, sometimes you win some, and sometimes you lose some. Though their standing may be disheartening, the Steelers are still number two in the AFC. Don’t give up hope yet, the Steelers could win the wild card spot in the AFC.

So, what do the Steelers need from you? Continued support and cheering! The Steelers players need a reminder of why they have chosen to come and play for Pittsburgh.  The unwavering support that Pittsburghers give their sports teams shows the players why Pittsburgh is such a great city, and one of the many reasons why Pittsburghers are awesome.
